After years of close collaboration with maritime professionals and rigorous testing aboard working vessels, UniSea Maintenance has achieved a significant milestone: official DNV Class Approval for our planned maintenance system.
This approval isn't just a regulatory checkbox - it's a validation of our vision to fundamentally rethink how planned maintenance systems should work in the modern maritime industry.
The maritime sector has long been served by maintenance systems that, while functional, haven't kept pace with technological evolution. These platforms often carry the weight of outdated architecture and design constraints – also known as “technical debt”.
UniSea's approach has been different from day one. Rather than iterating on existing frameworks, we built our solution from first principles, asking: "If we were to design a maintenance system today, with modern technology and deep maritime expertise, what would it look like?"
The journey to our early 2025 market launch involved extensive real-world testing. Technical managers and crew members on vessels across different operational profiles provided invaluable feedback that shaped our final product. Their insights helped us refine features that actually matter to daily operations at sea.
The response has been remarkable. Companies including Eidesvik, North Sea Shipping, Hagland, and Massterly have already signed up for the Maintenance module. These companies recognize that modern challenges require modern tools designed with genuine maritime expertise.
While DNV Class Approval marks a significant achievement, it's just the beginning. Our development roadmap remains ambitious, with new functionality being deployed at a pace that traditional providers simply can't match.
