Norwegian towage and marine services provider Buksér og Berging, has selected UniSea's recently class-approved Maintenance module.
This partnership comes as UniSea's recently DNV class-approved Maintenance system continues to gain momentum in the maritime sector. Buksér og Berging joins other leading operators including Fjord1, North Sea Shipping, and Eidesvik who have already signed up for the solution. With these companies onboard, UniSea is establishing a growing presence in the planned maintenance space, providing vessel operators with a modern, integrated approach to fleet management.
Vetle Sverdrup, CEO at Buksér og Berging, explains their decision: "Key to our decision making process has been selecting a user friendly tool that covers everything. Happy to see UniSea expanding into planned maintenance, enabling us to have one integrated system for our users on board."
Designed by seafarers, for seafarers
UniSea's approach to maintenance management reflects their deep maritime expertise. The system was designed and developed by former seafarers who understand the practical challenges of operations onboard the vessel.
"What sets our maintenance system apart is that it was built by people who have actually stood in the engine room and faced the real-world challenges of vessel maintenance," says Kurt Roar Vilhelmsen, CEO of UniSea. "This 'for crew, by crew' philosophy ensures that the system is intuitive for maritime professionals and addresses their actual needs rather than what software developers think they need."
A key advantage of UniSea Maintenance is how it handles fleet-wide data structure. While many systems require the crew to manually implement standardization across vessels, UniSea's solution builds this structure into the foundation of the software.
"Traditional maintenance systems force a difficult choice," explains Vilhelmsen. "Either accept inconsistent data across your fleet or burden your crew with extensive manual standardization work. We've eliminated this trade-off by baking structure directly into the system, giving management the consistent data they need without adding extra work for the crew."
Seamless integration across operations
As part of their Enterprise agreement, Buksér og Berging will benefit from seamless integration between the Maintenance module and other UniSea solutions. This integration creates a unified digital environment that eliminates traditional data silos and reduces duplicate work.
